How we came to be the Cookes

I met my husband, Earl in July of 2008 on a Christian single's website called Equally Yolked. Earl called me a few weeks after I joined Equally Yolked and we spoke for 6 hours one night ending the call with a decision to meet in person the next day. Earl picked me up the next day and took meto a local hot spot for dinner and a nice moonlight walk at the local waterfront before returning to my place to watch movies. Unfortunately I had just moved in and my roommate who was a pilot for the airline I work for was on a trip and we couldn't get a hold of him about how to use the DVD player. We settled for watching the news and talking until the early morning when I had to send him home. By the end of the night we knew we had something special. I was a flight attendant at the time and had to leave for a four day trip the next day. We talked every night on my overnights and texted in between my flights. The night before my trip ended Earl invited me to his home to meet his parents. (He was living with them at the time to help his mom pay the bills and care for his step-dad.) I remember being so nervous the last day of my trip. Later I realized all my worry was for nothing becasue his folks were (and are) lovely people and we got along just fine. We eventually settled down in his room to watch TV. After a while Earl suggested refiling our drinks and left the room. He took so long I fell asleep (in my defence I'd been up since 3:30am in El Paso and it was around 10:30pm in Phoenix by this point), I later found out the drinks were an excuse to leave the room and get my engagement ring from his mom. (Our rings are a replacement of an herloom set... long story) When he came back he asked me a few questions before dropping to both knees and asking me the big question to which I said "yes." 15 months later, several arguments with my parents about religion (both of us were raised but are no longer Catholic), moving the wedding date several times and between two states, we finally tied the knot on October 24 2009.
