Sometimes the best dates are free, or at least cheap ‘n’ easy. Try one of these creative ideas for a fun evening in for a change.
  1. Try dinner and a movie—with a twist.

In the mood for a Godfather marathon? Go for it—but trade your typical takeout for a themed meal like homemade Spaghetti Carbonara, tiramisu and a bottle of Chianti.
  2. Have a game night.

Invite a bunch of couples over for a friendly competition! Serve snacks, break out your favorite board games (Taboo, anyone?), throw in a friendly wager and see who can score the most points.

  3. Create a DIY photo shoot.

When’s the last time the two of you were in the same photo? Using your tripod or Apple photo booth, snap pics together in various rooms of your home for memories you’ll never forget.

  4. Relive the past.

Pop the cork on the same champagne you served at your wedding, and watch your wedding video together. Talk about one new thing you’ve discovered about each other since you said “I Do” (keep it nice -- no gripping about your partner’s annoying quirks!)
  5. Turn your place into a cozy wine bar.

Buy a few different bottles of wine (get 20 great picks under $20), make a plate of meats and cheeses, light some candles and load up your iPod with your favorite tunes.
  6. Sample another culture.

Plan out a delish meal of Paella and sangria, prepare it together and then dig in. Love Indian? Make your own Chicken Tikka Masala.
  7. Catch a sunset (or sunrise).

We’re guessing you haven’t done either since your early dating days, if ever. It’s cliché but romantic (kinda like flowers on V-Day), and all you need for this date is a blanket, bottle of wine (or thermos of coffee) and each other. Check the time online at SunriseSunset.com.
  8. Embrace your DIY side.

Get crafty by decorating your home and dating at the same time! Go to a hardware store and buy the supplies you need for a DIY decor project, crank up the tunes and get to work.
  9. Make your own scrapbook.

Paste in pictures, starting with your wedding day, followed by trips, holidays and moving into your first house to remember all the great times you've had together. Fill it in with candid pics and cute quotes. Leave blank pages in the back so you can load up with new memories next year.

  10. Be a smarty-pants couple

Get your hands on your local weekend paper and do the crossword puzzle together, or challenge each other to a breakfast game of Scrabble. The winner gets a foot massage!

  11. Play "wish list."

Reconnect between the sheets. You should each write down three sexual things you've each always wanted to try on separate pieces of paper. Fold them (marked with your initials) and mix 'em up. Take turns drawing out one of the other's wishes, agreeing in advance to at least give it a try.
