Take Your Bedroom on an Island Vacay

Remember back in January when we ever-so-geniously projected that tropical prints would be a major hit for 2014? Well, that inspired me so much that I traveled to the British Virgin Islands (I know, rough…) to check out what some of the top hotels were doing with their interiors. Yes, it was a total paradise and since I'm such sucker for good style, I couldn't help but think, even while attempting to paddle board, that this vacation-style decor needs to be brought home. Even if you can't make the trip, it's time to take your bedroom to the Caribbean (I mean, its earned it, right?), so I've found affordable décor pieces so you can get-the-look.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay

Just north of the natural wonder that is The Baths, Rosewood Little Dix Bay not only sits on lush grounds and a picture perfect beach, their décor is dreamy. White with splashes of island colors make for a relaxing space while clean-lined traditional furniture makes the room look totally modern.

How to? Start with whitewashed walls and white linens, add in some beach-y photography and a coral sculpture and a cobalt accent chair. Your bedroom will instantly transform in to this hotel hot spot.

Peter Island Resort & Spa

The private island (yes, it's actually a private island!) boasts a top notch resort and spa (ask for Oni!) which not only offers beach front suites, they also have gorgeous private residences that you can rent out for your family… or for yourself, if that's your jam.

How to? Keep the room fresh with white linens and walls (it's a Caribbean trend!), weave in natural elements, like wood and stone, for an outdoor-in look. Accent with wave like patterns and bright chartreuse to do it Peter Island-style chez you.

Oil Nut Bay

Head to the most eastern tip of Virgin Gorda and you'll find one of the newest (and seriously, most luxurious) real estate developments in the Caribbean. To please their demanding clientele (hey, we're not pointing any fingers) , the décor features everything from island modern rentals to a super sleek penthouse outfitted by FEDNI Casa. Um, can we please call this place home?

How to? Feel like you're living the luxe life with laid-back slipcovered chairs and water-blue accents. Add in a cool midcentury modern Chinoiserie room divider and fresh flowers that pull in the colors from this tropical retreat. We bet you'll be able to hear the soft lapping of the water as you fall asleep.
