Bring On the Best Bloody Mary
Here's what we know you love about the best brunch drink ever -- the Bloody Mary. It's a meal in a beverage. Who needs a plate of food? Start your weekend off right with this everything-but-the-kitchen sink version.
What You'll Need (makes 1 drink):
- Celery, olives, blue cheese or feta, cornichons or other small pickles, Slim Jims, shrimp (and whatever else you feel like throwing in)
- Wood skewers
- Vodka of choice
- Bloody Mary Mix (we love Detroit-based McClure's)
- Black pepper
- Mustard powder
- Lemon wedge
- Barbecue bitters or Sriracha
Step 1: Stuff your olives. We prefer adding blue cheese, but if you're not a fan, leave 'em as is or choose another soft cheese, such as feta.
Step 2: Customize your skewers. We're firm believers that Bloody Marys should include any and everything (even Slim Jims!), so add whatever feels right. Cornichons (a.k.a mini pickles) are always a solid choice since they're tiny and easy to skewer. The same goes for shrimp and marinated olives.
Step 3: Start pouring. Add 1 to 2 shots of vodka to a glass and combine with both ice and the Bloody Mary Mix to fill your glass, stirring well. (Remember to give it a quick taste test, adding more vodka or mix as needed.)
Step 4: Add a sprinkle of pepper and mustard powder, then a squeeze of lemon. Prefer a little more spice? Try adding 1 to 2 drops of barbecue bitters or even Sriracha for an extra kick. Bottoms up!
