Making use of maple syrup, orange and even hot coffee, check out these revved-up concoctions for some inebriation inspiration.
  1. American Flyer

    While a combination of rum and bubbly sounds dangerous, the resulting concoction is smooth and sweet.

    Makes 1 drink

    3 oz. white rum
    1 Tbl. lime juice
    1½ tsp. simple syrup
    Champagne or sparkling wine

    Combine the rum, juice and syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled wineglass. Fill the remainder of the glass with the champagne or sparkling wine.

  2. Cafe Royale

    You'll have to put in some elbow grease while preparing this cocktail, but the end result will be worth it.

    Makes 1 drink

    2 oz. hot coffee
    1 sugar cube
    1½ oz. brandy

    Rest a spoon holding the sugar and brandy over a mug of the coffee. Carefully set the brandy alight with a match. Once the flame has died down, pour the brandy and sugar into the mug.

    ½ oz. Galliano
    ½ oz. hot coffee
    Whipped cream

    Add the Galliano and coffee to a shot glass and then float the whipped cream on top.

  4. Skier’s Smoothie

    This drink will leave you surprised since the tea seems to transform the liqueur's flavors into something entirely different.

    Makes 1 drink

    1½ oz. Galliano
    4½ oz. hot tea

    In a cup, add the Galliano and then the tea.

  5. Smoked Martinez

    Shake up the classic Martinez with this original recipe that adds bacon and maple syrup.

    1 tsp. maple syrup
    1 oz. bacon-infused gin
    2 oz. sweet vermouth
    Dash orange bitters

    Combine the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
