A Classic Banana Bread Recipe for Mother’s Day

This banana bread recipe is simple and perfect for your Mother's Day brunch.

This Mother's Day, pamper the special ladies in your life with the most decadent Banana Bread treat. Made with crunchy walnuts and a touch of cinnamon, this quick-bread comes together in under an hour, and is guaranteed to be the highlight at your family brunch.

What You'll Need:

(Serves 10)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup whole wheat flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 medium-sized bananas, mashed
  • 1 stick of butter, melted and cooled
  • 1, 6 oz. container of full-fat yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease a 10x4 or a 9x5 loaf pan. In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.

Step 2: In a separate bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, melted (and cooled) butter, yogurt, and the egg.

Step 3: Mix the banana mixture into the dry-ingredient bowl until well incorporated.

Step 4: Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Step 5: Pour the batter into your pre-greased loaf pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 6: Once the pan has cooled slightly, remove the loaf and transfer to a rack until it cools completely.

Tip: If you're a chocolate lover, swap out half a cup of walnuts for mini dark chocolate chips.
