Festive and Crafty Cinco de Mayo Cacti Planters
Pom-pom trim and tissue paper fringe turn simple mini terra-cotta pots into the perfect planters for mini cacti and succulents. With a few bright colors and these cute greens, you can create festive Cinco de Mayo decor in no time. Line them up at the center of the table for a colorful centerpiece or use them individually to cheer up a fiesta place setting.
What You'll Need:
- Fringe scissors (optional)
- Glue gun
- Tissue paper
- Pom-pom trim
- Mini terra-cotta pots
- Straight edge
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat
Pom-pom Trim Planter Instructions:
Step 1: Wrap your pom-pom trim around the top of your pot and cut a piece large enough to cover the top lip.
Step 2: Use a glue gun to attach the trim to the pot and let dry.
Step 3: Trim off any excess trim where the two ends meet around the top. Repeat with a few different colored and textured trims!
Tissue Paper Fringe Planter Instructions:
Step 1: Cut rectangular strips of different colored tissue paper with your scissors.
Step 2: On a cutting mat, fold each strip of tissue paper in half and even up the edge opposite the fold with a straight edge and rotary cutter. Trim up the strips to make them all slightly different widths.
Step 3: Stack your tissue paper strips on top of each other, varying from slimmest to widest. Create fringe towards the bottom with your fringe scissors (or cut multiple strips with regular scissors).
Step 4: Glue your tissue paper fringe to your pot around the top and let dry.
Create a few different pots with varying colors!
Place your cacti in your new planters and use them as a quick center piece for your fiesta!
