Coffee and Vodka Lovers Rejoice: Grace Hightower De Niro Has the Perfect Cocktail Recipe For You
It makes sense that since actress and philanthropist Grace Hightower De Niro has a coffee line and her husband Robert De Niro is the co-creator of the VDKA 6100 line, the couple would get together and make a cocktail perfect for fall, right?
Not only does Grace Hightower & Coffees of Rwanda coffee taste delicious (we love the deep-bodied Espresso Roast), but it also supports the coffee farmers of Rwanda and helps them create a sustainable business.
“Something unique about coffee beans from Rwanda is that they're manually grown at an incredible altitude where the soil is fantastic and the climate is perfect," Grace told The Nest. “They ripen manually, they're dried manually and sorted many, many times before they're exported out. It's very easy to get quality beans there."
Besides sharing her coffee obsession — “I can't go out the door without having a cup!" — and that she's a fan of honey or maple syrup to sweeten her coffee, she also shared her “Quik Pik Me Up" cocktail recipe with us that combines her coffee and Robert's vodka — a match made in beverage heaven.
What You'll Need:
- 2 ounces Coffees of Rwanda Light Medium Roast infused with VDKA 6100
- .5 ounces of lemon juice
- .5 ounces of maple syrup
- Glassware: Rocks
- Garnish: Lemon slice
Step 1: Infusion Prep
Infuse VKDA 6100 with fresh coffee beans for 12 hours (one bottle = .25 pounds) or flash infuse by grinding .25 pounds of coffee beans and then throwing ground beans into a bottle of vodka and shaking it vigorously for 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 2: Prep
In a cocktails shaker or mixing glass add lemon juice, maple syrup and two ounces of the coffee infused VKDA 6100. Add fresh ice and shake. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a slice or wedge of lemon.
And just in case you want to spread the java love, Grace's holiday gift sets (anything with copper is her favorite) can brighten up kitchens and coffee makers alike.
