Home Tour: This Seattle-Based Artist's Home is Global Modern
When Montana native, Kate Grenier, moved even further West, she and her engineer husband eventually settled in a Seattle suburb. With a successful business under her belt (art and bottle cap magnets!), a toddler at home and traveling excursions galore, this artist/wife/mother has her hands full. But, her home is one to be desired: Filling it with finds from her travels, her own art and modern goods, the space is homey and inviting.
The family keeps it Northwest cozy on a plush couch that is perfect for a family with a young one.
Her favorite area of the home, the mantel holds some precious goods. While the modern painting was done by her friend in Seattle, the candle was painted by singer, Peggy Lee, who was a good friend of her grandparents. (Inside tip: It was inspired by a Christmas card, which included a poem that Kate's mom wrote.) The mantel also features a tiny picture of a one-year-old Kate, a bronze llama from Peru (her family raises them in Montana!) and her husbands first deer, Sam. We have to say, keeping you home personal is key!
Every home that entertains needs a bar and what better way than with glass decanters in different shapes. A handmade necklace hangs above, adding color and great texture.
Keeping a colorful and global theme throughout, Coco's room includes art by mom, handmade toys and a fun contemporary ceramic elephant side table.
Take it from the artist who personalized a room with a salon style wall of art. Tip: It's the best way to make impact with smaller pieces or if you can't decide which one to hang.
