Spicy heat plus chicken make the best team, so what's a football party without hot wings? Gotta have 'em, and with this no-fuss baked recipe, there's no need to order in.

What You'll Need:

For the Wings

  • 3 lb chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons corn, canola, grapeseed or vegetable oil (plus more for brushing)
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

For the Sauce

  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce like Frank's RedHot
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
  • pinch of salt (optional)

Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Generously grease a baking tray with oil. In a large bowl, mix together the chicken wings, oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and flour. Toss to coat. (The flour gives the wings a great crust that will soak up all of the sauce.)

Step 2: Spread the wings evenly on the baking tray. Arrange skin side up and brush with additional oil. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the wings are a golden brown color.

Step 3: After 30 minutes, use tongs to flip the wings over and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Don't bother brushing the other side, unless the wings look a little dry.

Step 4: To make the sauce, melt butter in a sauce pan over a medium-low flame. Once the butter melts, remove from heat and whisk in the hot sauce. Season to taste with chili powder and salt.

Step 5: Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl. Pour the prepared hot sauce (give it another good whisk before pouring) over the wings and toss to coat. Serve immediately with blue cheese and celery sticks.
