The fashion journalist just gave birth to her first child—see the room Decorist created for the little one.

Television presenter and fashion journalist Louise Roe may live in Los Angeles, but her new nursery designed with Decorist director Jessica McCarthy exudes an English country charm perfect for a baby's room.

"I'm obsessed with interior design (even more than fashion!), but this particular project had more of an emotional draw than usual: our baby's nursery," Roe says. "Mackenzie [Hunkin, her husband] and I were keen that the space wasn't too 'babyish'—it was important to keep it elegant and complement the rest of the house too. I adore a very English country feel, having grown up there; plus our house here in LA was built in the 1930s, so it lends itself well to antique furniture and traditional prints."

Mixing vintage and contemporary furniture gives a room personality, dimension and makes it feel truly lived in. The 1870s antique chest from Viyet is topped with thoughtful books and accessories.

The beige, pink, brown and white color palette is feminine and youthful, yet feels mature enough for Louise's newborn to grow into. The chic crib from Pottery Barn Kids also converts to a toddler bed, making it the perfect piece for the space. In keeping with the neutral theme, McCarthy suggested layering a light rug from Bed Bath and Beyond with a vintage rug Roe found on Etsy.

  3. Shelfie Goals

A marble shelf holds the full Beatrix Potter collection and a sweet stuffed rabbit. "I'm a bookworm, and grew up with traditional children's literature like Peter Rabbit," Roe says. "So I couldn't resist buying the full Beatrix Potter collection to store on a marble shelf. Hopefully the 'nursing corner' will one day become our little girl's 'reading corner' instead! We can't wait to meet her."
