Inside Whitney Port’s New Nursery and Master Bedroom
When Whitney Port and her husband moved from a loft space in Venice Beach to a family-friendly home in Studio City, CA to make room for their baby-to-be, they had their work cut out for them. They started by replacing the vinyl flooring with hardwood and knocking down walls to create a more open living space. Then the couple moved onto the most important spaces: the bedrooms. Working with Joss & Main style director, Donna Garlough, Port transformed the master bedroom and nursery into stunning bohemian retreats.
Port knew she wanted a white bed with a Moroccan rug, along with accents of blue, mustard and white. “Starting with crisp white walls and simple white bedding, we began to layer in natural and neutral pieces with subtle personality like the woven leather bench and a washed jute rug," Garlough says.
A small seated area showcases a mix of traditional and oriental elements, like the striped settee and the jute accent stool. “I knew when we bought this house, I wanted our bedroom to feel like a sanctuary," Port says. “This seating area does just that for me."
“In the nursery, we went for a gender-neutral palette of white and sand, and brought in touches of black, green and warm terracotta in the rug and pillows," Garlough says. To ensure the space was as functional as it was stylish, they made sure to include this modern glider and ottoman for rocking, plus a daybed for cuddle sessions with Port's son Sonny.
